Nick was engaged to prepare a landscape masterplan for the 2ha property before any building design was undertaken and with emphasis on integrating the design of the house with the distinctive and challenging landscape and topography and creating a future home environment that will retain all the best qualities of naturalness and response to context, and supporting it with the thoughtfulness and confidence of well designed garden layout and features. When finished the gardens will include decks with views across the inlet, wild colourful shrub and tussock planting, spring meadows of bulbs and perennials and a selection of 'destinations' around the garden for relaxing, eating, and simply enjoying the setting.
